The Ultimate Bad Asian Date

There was an interesting dating story

featured in the news recently

Apparently a man went on a date with a lady he met via an online dating site.   He took her out for a few drinks and they ordered a few drinks.  At the end of the evening she she refused to split the bill or pay for anything herself.  She said she’d not brought any money as she’d assumed he’d be paying for everything.  The conversation got a little heated and he ended up stealing her phone as a way to get some of his money back.  Things got even worse when the police arrested him and the case went to court. Even though he won the case, he was still ordered to pay £1200 in costs.

This is a very sad story, but it’s one that makes you think.  It’s not uncommon for first dates to go wrong when one of the two singles thinks they are being taking advantage of.   You should be respectful to each other even if you aren’t that interested in dating or meeting again.

As a leading dating expert, I firmly believe that the man should always pay for the first date.  However, the woman must always at least make a gesture and offer to pay.  It’s just the right thing to do!  Otherwise, you’ll be seen as a money grabber and that you aren’t really interested in the other person.   At the very least,  neither of you should ever even think of leaving the house without bringing any money.  What if you have an emergency?  Do you really think everything is going to be free?   Dating is an investment and costs a little.

However…I’d love to hear what you think.

OMG! Firstly why have women bothered to even fight for their right if they gonna act like that, they want equality and then still have expectations. She should have bought money with her and not expected him to pay for everything and as James said she should have at least made a gesture to pay towards the bill because its just polite to do so. If I go on a date fine I do hope the guy will pay but doesn’t mean i wont offer! As for the guy stealing her phone he should not that done that. I think he should have just paid the bill and left. So to answer the question they were both to blame (C) but she started it!

C – They were both equally to blame. Although I can understand the chap’s frustration he had no right to steal her property. He should have used the experience to learn what kind of person she is. His appropriate action would have been to kick her miserly jacksie to the kerb and found a lady who KNOWS the meaning of equality.

The lady should have some respect for herself and at least offered to pay some. To then say “I expected you to pay for everything” is a little disrespectful. Again, she should learn from this experience that you can’t treat people that way.

Having said that, I’m single. So, what the hell do I know….? :OS

Say you gone on 10dates and each costs £100, that’s £1000 and still don’t know how long is a piece of string. At this stage you may be having to think if this is an investment or what. So I think each pay 50:50 and why not.

Why would a date cost £100? You don’t need to spend a fortune, especially on a first date :)
